Funding Opportunities

Water Sustainability Program FY2010

Due to budget constraints, funding opportunities offered by WSP will be limited in FY10. The WSP competitive grants program has been suspended but there will be a small pool of funds available on a continuing basis to support requests for the following:

  1. Cost-share dollars as match on proposals responding to major funding calls (>$100K) that offer at least a 4:1 return on the WSP investment. Higher rates of return are encouraged as is demonstration of additional support from other UA units or new external sources.

  1. Seed grants for research support including instrumentation acquisition, infrastructure improvements, operations and salary support to generate data and prepare proposals targeted to major funding calls, that have a return of at least 4:1 on the WSP investment. Requests should demonstrate additional support from other UA units or new external sources. Requests should identify at least one major funding call that is being targeted.

  1. Funding to support start-up packages for new faculty recruits who demonstrate the ability to secure external funding and strengthen teaching and research programs related to water resources.

All requests must be relevant to the mission and goals of the WSP and be linked to at least one of the five member water centers serving as the management core for the program. The research efforts supported by WSP funding will preferably show innovation, be interdisciplinary in scope and lead to the development and expansion of research programs in the long term, supported by external funding. Expenditure of WSP funds must follow TRIF guidelines. Acknowledgement of WSP funding is required on all materials and presentations related to the funded research effort.
